Legal Information Management and Briefing System (LIMBS) is a web application created by the Department of Legal Affairs of the Ministry of Law and Justice to make legal data available in a single point and to streamline the litigation procedure conducted on behalf of the Union of India. This article gives a brief overview of the need for LIMBS. LIMBS is still in its infancy. In order to better coordinate the government`s work and achieve the desired results, different departments must submit data as early as possible in a time-limited and integrated manner. LIMBS is an online tracking tool for court proceedings. It is managed by the Department of Legal Affairs. It aims to facilitate the prosecution and follow-up of all pending cases before the Supreme Court and Supreme Courts related to the Union of India. LEGAL INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (LSA) The Legal Information Management and Information System (LFAM) is a web portal developed by the Legal Affairs Department of the Ministry of Law and Justice for the monitoring and handling of various court cases of government departments and ministries. The Co-Secretary (Revenue) of the Department of Revenue is the DoR`s Nodal Agent for Limbo. The Commissioner of the Directorate of Legal Affairs (DLA) has been appointed project coordinator for LIMBS at the CBIC. Cases involving the Supreme Court are downloaded and updated by DLA on LIMBS. Cases concerning the Supreme Court and the courts are uploaded by the relevant police stations. Instructions for uploading and updating cases to LIMBS have been issued by DLA on field training from time to time.

The objective of the Legal Information Management and Information System (LMBS) under the CBIC is to create a national portal for all cases pending before different courts under the e-governance initiative. Once completed, information on all court cases handled by the various ministries/departments and other bodies of the Government of India will be available in a single web-based online application.
